Carrie Battley: Psychic Medium

Jessica Gilbert: Carrie, it is wonderful to have you in TSM and thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to do this interview.

Carrie Battley: Thank you Jessica, I´m delighted to be invited to be featured in the magazine.

Jessica Gilbert: Firstly, I know that since you were a young child you’ve been aware that you had a psychic gift. So, what was one of your early premonitions that you had as a child? Who was it that helped you understand your gift?

Carrie Battley: I guess as a child I didn’t fully appreciate my ´gift´ as being anything out of the ordinary. In a mediumistic sense, I would often see or feel spirit, and hear things as well as see energy particles. Whereas on a psychic level, I knew things that weren’t ever told to me, but to me that was normal. In honesty, it wasn’t something I gave much thought to until a lot later in life. It was in my early twenties that my grandmother who had passed came to me in spirit, and in short set me on this path.

Jessica Gilbert: How long have you been working as a medium? What were you doing prior to this field of work? Finally, what inspires you to carry on doing this work?

Carrie Battley: I’ve been working as a medium now for two years, prior to which I worked internationally as a PA. It wasn’t so much a choice to do this work, it´s more a way of life for me. Once I started using my mediumistic side and also the psychic in my spare time in order to help people for free, I realised how fulfilling it was and how much it gave me a sense of soul satisfaction. Not to mention how much comfort, guidance and peace it can bring to a client. That is something which I feel no office job could ever rival, no matter how much the salary offered!

Jessica Gilbert: How do you prepare for a client reading? Is there something special you need to do in order to tap into one’s energy, or can you just tap into one’s energy whenever you want to?

Carrie Battley: I find that a few minutes just sitting by myself before my day begins works well for me. I like to ask those in spirit and those I work with on a guidance level to come forward and provide me with the information, evidence and messages each client needs for their best interests. But no, I don’t go around tapping into people’s energy whenever I feel like it! I respect that everyone has their right to privacy and I have found that if a person is closed to being ‘read’ then it is harder to tap into them anyway.

Jessica Gilbert: Based on your personal experiences, what are some downsides to this nature of work?

Carrie Battley: I personally don’t feel there are any downsides to this nature of work as I wouldn’t be doing it if I felt it wasn’t something that was uplifting and helpful to people. Perhaps one downside are those within this work that aren’t genuine and working from the heart. They unfortunately give psychics and mediums a bad name – anyone going for a reading should be coming away from it feeling they have clarity, guidance and a sense of peace. Not that they were fed a pile of rubbish!

Jessica Gilbert: Who are some other mediums you admire and look up to?

Carrie Battley: There are many great mediums and each one works in their own individual way. The AFC in the UK has some outstanding mediums whom I admire, and of course, there are those of old who are now in the spirit world themselves that left their mark within this field…Gordon Higginson, Doris Stokes, Leslie Flint…to name but a few.

Jessica Gilbert: What would you say to someone out there grieving over the loss of a loved one to help them feel better?

Carrie Battley: I would tell them that although they may feel that their loved one has departed, the spirit world is constantly around us – hearing, seeing and watching all that happens within this physical life. Just because you can no longer physically sense your loved one, do not think that they have left you. They will always be with you and supporting you. Love is the strongest bond of all and it can never be broken.

Jessica Gilbert: If you had the power to do something in the world today, what would it be and why?

Carrie Battley: I don’t agree with using power to achieve anything, there are many awful things within this world that could be changed for the better. However, I do believe everything has its reason and lesson. It would be nicer for people as a whole to have a more positive and compassionate approach to life and its events. Perhaps that would bring about the changes the world needs in terms of ending violence, poverty and destruction.

Jessica Gilbert: What is one of your favorite quotes (or lines) that inspires you?

Carrie Battley: It has to be “The journey of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”

Jessica Gilbert: Anything else you’d like to share? And where can our readers find out more about you and your work?

Carrie Battley: I would like to encourage those that feel drawn to anything esoterical, spiritual or metaphysical to truly explore every urging. Life can be experienced so much more with an open mind. Finding your inner self is the best journey you will ever go on.
